EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

VPR   College  of  Education, Reddy Colony, Kamalapuram YSR  District., Andhra Pradesh is affiliated to Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa is being sponsored by Proddatur Development Trust, Rayavaram, Proddatur, YSR District, Andhra Pradesh, which was registered on 22.4.1981 with the NO.26 of 1981.The Committee has good track record and good financial position to run many courses. Its Correspondent S.Maheswara Reddy, with the objectives of Social, Educational and Economic upliftment of the Society. This institute is recognized by the NCTE vide letters No. F.No/SRC/NCTE/APS00025/B.Ed/AP/2015/64035 Dated: 06/05/2015 with intake of 100 seats of B.Ed. course and F.No.SRO/NCTE/SRCAPP3057/D.El.Ed-A1/AP/2016-17/77901 Dated: 17/11/2015 with APSO2702 for D.Ed. course, with intake of 50 students.

VPR COLLEGE OF EDUCATION was started on 17th May  2003  with G.O.Ms.No.63, Education Department of Andhra Pradesh and the Institution is recognized by NCTE SRC, Bangalore  during the academic year 2002 – 2003  to Affiliated  Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati.  After this Institution changed to Yogi Vemana University, Kadapa for affiliation from the year 2010-2011.

This college is situated at  the Kamalapuram town,  It has high quality infrastructure consisting of Multi-Storied Building, Library, different Labs and provision for Indoor as well as outdoor games.

The college is being run by Proddatur Development Trust. It has the advantage of using and sharing all the civic facilities owned by the Trust. Thus it avails facilities like Water Supply, Sanitation  and Electrification with provision of high-powered soundless generators to ensure uninterrupted electric supply on each of the floor. Transport facility exists for staff and students commuting from nearby areas of Kamalapuram.

With a vision of “To prepare teachers who integrate technology in education to extend others in their profession and prove to be worthy citizens and alleviate of poverty in the nation by empowering the unprivileged through education in India”. The college has been pursuing the twin policy of expanding vertically as well as horizontally. Expansion in either direction has, of course, never been attempted at the cost of quality. Additions and expansions have always been made in the relevant infrastructural facilities as well in. Keeping with the norms and standards fixed by the UGC, NCTE and Yogi Vemana  University, Kadapa to which the institution is affiliated.             

The college has taken upon itself a great deal of social responsibility to provide the best in terms of academics, Co-curricular activities, infrastructure and environment as a whole. The Qualified selected faculty members are an important asset of the college for providing sound academic inputs blended with organization of National Seminars, Conferences, Workshops, and Orientation programmes towards Research, Innovation, etc. The faculty members are well qualified with long teaching experience acquired at the prestigious Institutes of the state. This institute provides an environment which is fully conductive to all academic pursuits while offering many faculty development schemes for the teachers to participate in national and international conferences.

The institute follows a fair and transparent process in  admissions. The seats are filled through counseling. Seat allocation is made on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates through entrance test. The candidates attend the counseling and are offered seats in the college of their choice, as per their merit.

Apart from imparting instruction to the students, the institute also pays special attention to inculcate human values and grooming the  students for a bright career. It continuously strives to develop students to realize their potential while acquiring professional knowledge. A counseling cell has been created to conduct workshops on personality development and communication skills for the students and to prepare them for job world.

The Hon’ Correspondent of the society is easily accessible, highly understanding, a great inspirator, motivator and a guiding force.  The Principal of the institute gives advice, direction and support to the staff that are responsible for the proper working of the institute.

Participation of students in sports and co-curricular activities like NSS and Swachh Bharat are regular feature in the college. The sports facilities include Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volley Ball, Tennis, Badminton etc. apart from indoor games.

The Healthcare facility is available free to all the students of the campus. The key differentiator of this college is to focus on overall development of the students, to equip them not only in academic contents but also make them citizens beings, who would be pride of the nation and would make a mark wherever they go in their future, so that they bring repute not only to themselves but also to their all matters.

      To develop the knowledge, skills and competencies among the students needed for plying multifaceted role of the teachers in the new era.

      To bring about physical, emotional, intellectual and ethical integration of student-teachers with a view of evolving a complete teacher possessing the basic values of secularism, national integration and truthfulness.

      To enable students to live with harmony as an individual and as a cohesive unit in the teaching learning process and in society.

      To develop national and international understanding among the Student teachers.

      To inspire students for lifelong learning.

      To inspire trainees for Swachh Bharat.

      To inculcate moral values among the student teachers.

      To achieve the main concept of education, modernization and vocationalisation.

INTELLECTUAL:

To prepare teachers who are:

ACADEMIC:

Teacher educators are made aware about the strategies in transacting the teacher education curriculum in an effective manner, thereby invoke the understanding of Student teachers towards school curriculum with regard to:

  1. Exactness and accuracy in Mathematics.
  2. Observation and development of scientific attitude and scientific temper in Teaching of Science.
  3. Expression of emotions and feelings in Teaching Languages
  4. Creating humaneness in Teaching of Social Studies.
  5. Fair play on the playground.

TRAINING:

  1. To train Student teachers skillfully in various curricular and co-curricular activities.
  2. To develop aural-oral communication skills among Student teachers.
  3. To improve competence in the use of various Teaching Skills among the Student teachers.

ACCESS TO DISADVANTAGES:

  1. To provide friendly environment to the disadvantaged Student teachers.
  2. To make necessary provisions i.e. infrastructure, teaching learning material etc. for the Student teachers belonging to disadvantaged group of society.
  3. To provide more opportunities for all round development to the Student teachers belonging to disadvantaged group of society.

EQUITY:

1-     The college is strictly committed to justice and fair play with the students. It maintains equity between students with regard to gender, racial and economic differences

2-     Women Cell has been established in the college to solve woman related problems and action research is conducted at various stages.

3-     The college offers a wide range of optional subjects and Student teachers are free to opt for any subject of their own choice. (Subject-Combination list is provided by the university in its ordinance for B.Ed & D.Ed. course.)

4-     The College constituted a committee for organizing Swatch Bharath activities.

5-     The college has also maintained a legal cell to hope up with the problems regarding academic matters.

SELF DEVELOPMENT:

  1. To enable the Student teachers to develop and maintain spiritual and moral values.
  2. To motivate the Student teachers to face the challenges of life.
  3. To develop the personality of Student teachers so that they can become productive human resource for the Nation.
  4. To develop the character and personality of Student teachers through participation in sports and games.
  5. To make Student teachers up date according to global trend of ICT and spread computer literacy among them.
  6. To encourage Student teachers for manual work and inculcate the value of dignity of labour.
  7. To develop aesthetic sense among Student teachers.
  8. To encourage the student teachers to Yoga for peace of mind.

COMMUNITY AND NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

  1. To encourage and sensitize the Student teachers about future Environmental concerns and to cultivate habit of conservation of nature and natural resources.
  2. To encourage Student teachers to support community by taking active part in blood donation, eradication of the illiteracy, population education programmes etc.
  3. To spread awareness among the masses about polio, swine flue, HIV/ AIDS etc.
  4. To encourage Student teachers imbibe values.
  5. To spread literacy among illiterate people of adopted village through adult education Programmes and other SUPW activities.
  6. To encourage the Student teachers for celebrating the days of international, national, social and religious importance with full zeal and forever.
  7. In order to develop manual skills and inculcate aesthetic sense in Student teachers, crafts like gardening, interior decoration, home craft, art and painting are not only taught but the Student teachers practice it as a part of curriculum.  

ISSUE OF ECOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENT:

To encourage Student teachers to attend various Seminars, Workshops, Lectures, and Conferences concerning matter related to ecology and environment.

VALUE ORIENTATION:

Values are given utmost importance among student teachers. In order to explain the concept of values among Student teachers, lectures are delivered by experts. Spiritual discourses are given to Student teachers by inviting learned personalities and saints. Student teachers and teacher-educators of the College regularly offer prayer, which help in imbibing values in a better way. Morning assemblies are the part of value orientation programmes. Experts deliver spiritual Lectures; religious gurus are also invited for this purpose.

EMPLOYEMENT:

The college arranges following kind of assistance to the Student teachers:

1)     By establishing network of various placement agencies.

2)     By providing information and to make aware the Student teachers through Wall Magazines, News Letters and Website about various employment opportunities available to them.   

3)     By constituting Teacher Placement Cell. It is an integral and functional part of the College.

4)     By arranging guest lectures, workshops and seminars in collaboration with experts from Employment Exchange.

 

5)     By inviting various educational institutions on matters related to placement and employment of the Student teachers.

6)     Teacher-educators of the College remain in constant touch with Employment Exchange. In order to provide good jobs to the Student teachers. The College has constituted a Placement Cell. Members of this cell constantly inform the Student teachers about employment opportunities in and around the state.

GLOBAL TRENDS AND DEMANDS:

To provide opportunities to the Student teachers for increasing awareness about emerging needs in light of global trends and demands.
